Our Specialized Activities
Our specialized activities provide a variety of opportunities that can augment the child’s program in key areas when determined to be necessary by the Education and Therapy team.
IET-Integrated Education and Therapy - Provides opportunity for children to participate in group activities that build readiness skills for community based preschool programs. The therapists and teachers begin to provide the supports that may be necessary for the children to be successful in school environments.
Fun with Food - An opportunity provided by the Occupational Therapists for children to explore food in a safe, fun group environment to help improve oral feeding skills.
Adapted Physical Education Group - A natural gross motor setting which allows children to develop their locomotor and object control skills. A fun environment for children to participate with peers and learn new games and gross motor activities.
Sensory Room - A room designed to support children in their learning and development through their exploration of a unique environment that provides opportunities for stimulation of sensory system, modulation of emotions and motivations to engage in learning and therapy activities.
Handwriting Without Tears – A fun interactive group activity using a multisensory approach to developing early printing skills. The Occupational Therapist teaching this group is trained in “Handwriting Without Tears”.
Music Therapy - Children attending the I.E.T. program receive Music Therapy provided for us through JB Music Therapy. This is a once a week group activity and is extremely popular with the children.
Augmentative Sign Language – Fun and informal classes designed for families/friends, staff and professionals who want to use augmentative sign language to communicate with individuals who utilize this communication system. Participants will learn a base of preschool sign vocabulary and an understanding of how to support communication development with signs.
