Child Development Specialist(CDS):
G.R.I.T. Calgary Society is presently looking to hire one Fulltime Child Development Specialist to join our dynamic team in our NE Pre-K/K classroom starting August 24, 2026.
The successful candidate will:
Work alongside a Certificated teacher and a caring and dedicated team of professionals including a Speech Language Pathologist and Speech Language Pathologist Assistant who help to facilitate the program. This collaborative model ensures children receive ongoing targeted goals as they build confidence, independence, and communication skills.
Job Requirements:

Education- Diploma in Rehabilitation Services or Early Childhood Development or related field. (Equivalencies will be considered)

Experience -minimum of 1 year work experience with children with special needs, preferably children of preschool age (2.8 to 6 years of age), working with children in a classroom setting would be an asset to this position, basic preschool sign language, and ability to work as part of a team.

Willingness to help transport a would be an asset

Experience working with children with speech and communication delays

Basic preschool sign language

Current Certification in Infant Child Emergency First Aid CPR

Clear Criminal Record Check
Related Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of theory and principles of child development

An understanding of "learning through play" philosophy

An understanding of purpose and procedures of data collection

Good interpersonal communication skills

An ability to adapt to changing situations

An understanding of the Consultative Model
