Child Development Specialist(CDS):

 Job Requirements: 

• ​Education- Diploma in Rehabilitation Services or Early Childhood Development or related field. (Equivalencies will be considered) 

• Experience -minimum of 1 year work experience with children with special needs, preferably children of preschool age (2.8 to 6 years of age), working with children in a classroom setting would be an asset to this position, basic preschool sign language, and ability to work as part of a team. 

• Willingness to help transport a would be an asset 

• Experience working with children with speech and communication delays 

• Basic preschool sign language 

• Current Certification in Infant Child Emergency First Aid CPR 

• Clear Criminal Record Check 

Related Knowledge and Skills: 

• Knowledge of theory and principles of child development​  

• An understanding of "learning through play" philosophy  

• An understanding of purpose and procedures of data collection 

• Good interpersonal communication skills 

• An ability to adapt to changing situations 

• An understanding of the Consultative Model
