Occupational Therapist Position
G.R.l.T. Calgary Society provides highly individualized home, community and school based Education and Therapy programs for preschool age children with special needs. We use Program Unit Funding to provide a consultative model of early intervention for children within Calgary and neighboring communities. The GRIT team includes OT, PT, SLP, Teacher, Vision Support Facilitator.
GRIT Calgary Society is presently looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team in September 2026. This position will be 20 hrs per week and will follow the CBE school year, September 2026 - June 2027. Salary will be comparable with CHRA scales.
Job responsibilities include:

Assessment, intervention, and consultation with children who have a range of difficulties including, but not limited to: Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Neuromotor and Neuromuscular disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and children who are medically fragile.

Assessment, intervention and consultation will address the areas of fine motor, self help, sensory processing, positioning, ADL and modifications and equipment, splinting and technology.

Development of goals and participation in IPP meetings with parents.

Implementation of OT programs during home and preschool visits, in consultation with parents and Child Development Specialists.
Qualifications needed:

Bachelor or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy

minimum 4 years of pediatric experience

current registration with ACOT
-
strong written and verbal communication skills

personal vehicle for travel within Calgary and to neighboring communities (reimbursement per km)

Child Development Specialist:
We are currently seeking Child Development Specialists to join our team to work in the NW & NE quadrant of the city.
G.R.I.T. Calgary Society is presently looking to hire both Part-time and Full-time Child Development Specialists (a 1:1 aide to work directly with a child or children) starting August 25th, 2026. The positions will be located in the NW & NE quadrant of the City of Calgary.
The successful candidate will:
Provide children with quality Early Childhood experiences to support the child's individual learning and development through active participation in everyday natural routines of home, community and or school.
To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the unique needs of the child and family.
Job Requirements:
Education- Diploma in Rehabilitation Services or Early Childhood Development or related field. (Equivalencies will be considered)
Experience -minimum of 1 year work experience with children with special needs, preferably children of preschool age (2.8 to 6 years of age), working with children both in their home and community settings
Current Certification in Infant Child Emergency First Aid CPR
Clear Criminal Record Check
Valid Driver's License, proof of Insurance and reliable vehicle for transporting children if applicable
Drivers Abstract required if transporting children
Related Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of theory and principles of child development
An understanding of "learning through play" philosophy
An understanding of purpose and procedures of data collection
Good interpersonal communication skills
An ability to adapt to changing situations
An understanding of the Consultative Model
