Developmental Specialist: 

G.R.I.T. Calgary Society is presently looking to hire for 2 Developmental Specialist positions ( 1:1 aide to work directly with a child or children) to join our team starting  January 6th,  2020. 

1 Full-time position in the NW area of Calgary

1 Part-time position in Langdon 

The successful candidate will:

  • provide children with quality Early Childhood experiences to support the child's individual learning and development through active participation in every day natural routines of home, community and or school.  

  • To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the unique needs of the child and family

Job Requirements:

  • ​Education- Diploma in Rehabilitation Services or Early Childhood Development or related field. (Equivalencies will be considered)

  • Experience -minimum of 6mths work experience with children with special needs, preferably children of preschool age

  • Current Certification in Infant`Child Emergency First Aid CPR

  • Clear Criminal Record Check

Related Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of theory and principles of child development​

  • An understanding of "learning through play" philosophy

  • An understanding of purpose and procedures of data collection

  • Good interpersonal communication skills

  • An ability to adapt to changing situations

  • An understanding of the Consultative Model
